The Bozeman Ice Festival is proud to announce our partnership with the Adventure Film Festival. Adventurers, artists, filmmakers and activists created and run this festival because we believe in the power of the story and especially the narrative of adventure, awakening to change and challenging the world we live in. Adventure Film is rooted in the concept of “Making your own Legends,” empowering each of us to create positive change in our world.  Get ready to awaken your senses while exploring the beautiful mysteries of our universe through the craftsmanship of storytellers, artists, extreme athletes and adventurers.

Mugs Stump Award

Join us Thursday, December 8 in the evening as we are joined by very special guest and long-time friend of the fest, Conrad Anker to announce the winners of this year's Mugs Stump Alpine Climbing Award. Established in 1993 to honor the late Mugs Stump, each year the Mugs Stump Award provides grants to a select number of individuals and teams whose proposed climbs present an outstanding challenge—a first ascent, significant repeat or first alpine-style ascent—with special emphasis placed on climbers leaving no trace of their passage.

Sponsored by Alpinist Magazine, Black Diamond Equipment, Ltd., Mountain Gear, Patagonia, Inc., and W.L. Gore & Associates, Inc., the Mugs Stump Award encourages men, women and teams from North America to submit their applications for a part of this year’s $33,500 in grant funding. The committee is currently accepting application until December 1 for climbs taking place between February 1, 2017 and March 1, 2018. Visit Mugs Stump Award for details.

Heritage Sponsor Celebration

First organized as two competing events more than 20 years ago by Northern Lights Trading Co. and Barrel Mountaineering, the two shops came together in 2006 to create one festival dedicated to Hyalite access. Although the event ebbed and flowed across the years, there are five companies that have shared our evolution from the very start – Black Diamond Equipment, Grivel, La Sportiva, Patagonia, and Petzl. With the support of these Heritage Sponsors over the decades, the Bozeman Ice Festival has become one of the largest ice climbing festivals in the world. Join us Saturday, December 10 as we honor these outstanding leaders in the Outdoor Industry and thank them for the ongoing commitment to Bozeman, Hyalite Canyon access, and the sport of ice climbing in all its forms.

Legendary Sunday Wrap Party

No event is complete with a Wrap Party. Over the years this celebration has become one of the highlights of the week as sponsors, athletes, organizers and participants come together one last time as a tribe to carbo-load and toast a week of life-changing experiences. Award-winning author, margarita specialist and storyteller of the highest order Kelly Cordes will give a poignant, hilarious and enlightening presentation on his latest adventures as he journeys from the operating table to the greater ranges of the world and back.

Featuring a gourmet meal from The Bountiful Table, tasty adult beverages, and one of the great gear raffles in a town known for its swag. Join us Sunday, December 11 as we celebrate the 2016 recipient of the 9th annual Guy Lacelle Hyalite Service Award and the final drawing for the legendary Stoke Package. See who comes in naked and leaves an ice climber!
